‘Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’ Release Date and Collector’s Editions Confirmed

On the evening of January 12, Nintendo released its largest Nintendo Switch announcement yet, and they finally gave us a date. On March 3, less than two months away, we will finally be able to have the Nintendo Switch in our houses. But we all know what the real showstopper of the announcement was – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be available on both WiiU and Switch the same day.

But why just buy the game, when you can have goodies as well? Nintendo also announced the release of the Breath of the Wild: Master’s Edition, for a good price of $129.99, considering everything it comes with. Not only will you get the Switch version of Breath of the Wild, but a carrying case for your Switch console, a soundtrack CD including 24 songs from the game, a collectible Sheikah Eye coin, and a weather-torn tapestry map with the interesting title of “Relic of Hyrule: Calamity Ganon.” If that’s not enough, the Master’s Edition also includes a gorgeous statue of an old and worn Master Sword ready for the hero to remove it from the ground.

This bundle is available on Nintendo’s website and should be available from other retailers soon. If you’re worried about money but still want a collector’s edition of Breath of the Wild, there is also a Special Edition available for $99.99, including everything but the Master Sword statue.

If this wasn’t enough swag for the biggest Zelda game since Skyward Sword, Nintendo also announced five new amiibos to be released the same day as Breath of the Wild. These include two versions of Link, as an archer and on horseback, a Zelda dressed eerily similar to Link, sword and all, and two enemies: the franchise-staple Bokoblin, and the giant Guardian which stumped everyone in the E3 playable demo.

Nintendo hasn’t announced what these new amiibos will bring to the game, but considering the Twilight Princess Wolf Link amiibo can become a companion in Breath of the Wild, fans are eager to find out.
