Now that we have the title for the next installment of the Star Wars Saga — The Last Jedi — we actually have more questions than answers about the much-anticipated movie. And it looks like someone close to the cast is on our side…
Daisy Ridley, who plays lead hero in the latest series in the long-running franchise, has been grilled repeatedly about the plot. Her costar in the upcoming movie, Murder on the Orient Express, Josh Gad, seems to be a Star Wars super fan, and has been interrogating Ridley for weeks, trying to catch her out by inviting her into his trailer to “rehearse lines” from the mystery.
As soon as Ridley shows up, however, Gad starts questioning her, recording her responses for posterity.
According to Variety, Gad began his high-pressure interrogation tactic about two weeks ago, trying to shake some details about Star Wars Episode VIII out of the young actress by utilizing the element of surprise. Referring to the film’s newly announced title, Josh asks:
“Who are the last Jedi?”
Josh tries again to wedge Star Wars into the conversation during rehearsals for Orient Express, sneaking in a question about who Rey’s parents are:
Finally, Josh gives up and brings in the big guns: Judi Dench, whose reputation in the theater and sheer force of presence demands compliance.
The grand dame of the stage wastes no time:
“Are you being tested for midichlorians?”
“Is Snoke Palpatine?”
Then Dench asks, referring to the Rey/Kylo shipping by fans:
“What’s the deal with Reylo?”
“Why don’t you answer my damn questions?”
We know how well Rey held up to interrogation by Kylo Ren, but watch to see if Daisy can resist the mental powers of Dame Judi Dench.
